Online launch of Australia’s new standard for cataract care

The first national standard of care for patients with cataract will drive improvements for the most common elective surgery in Australia.

ACSQHC are hosting a live online launch of Australia’s Cataract Clinical Care Standard, which will help health services to streamline pathways of care for people with cataract.

Each year more than 250,000 people undergo cataract surgery. This new clinical care standard will help ensure that patients are prioritised for cataract surgery or non-surgical alternatives based on clinical need.

During the webcast, attendees will hear from experts as they discuss best practice and reveal how they have introduced innovation in cataract care. The conversation will focus on key aspects of care, including referral from primary care, assessment of patients, prioritisation for surgery and post-operative care.
