Day Hospitals Australia Strategic Plan 2021 – 2024

Over recent months, the Day Hospitals Australia Strategic Plan for 2021 – 2024 has been developed by the Board and CEO under the guidance of an external facilitator.

As part of the process, feedback received from key stakeholders including Day Hospitals Australia members, staff, governments, Federal and jurisdictional Departments of Health, private health insurers, consumers, medical colleges and societies assisted with the development of core strategies.

With the declining number of privately insured Australians, now more than ever, the high quality, safe, efficient and cost-effective care delivered by the day hospital sector must be recognised as one of the solutions in reducing private health insurance premiums.

Many of the core strategies outlined in the plan focus attention on the value proposition offered by day hospitals and the necessary expansion of services provided in the stand-alone day hospital sector to assist in reducing costs in the private hospital sector, and thus maintaining a strong and viable dual health system.

We are excited to share our Strategic Plan in more detail with members at the next round of Chapter Meetings. In the meantime, members can view a copy of the Day Hospitals Australia 2021 – 2024 Strategic Plan on the AGM and Governance Page.

“Our vision is the advancement of the Day Hospital sector, as an essential element in the delivery of safe, high quality, cost efficient, patient centred care in contributing to the sustainability of the Australian healthcare system”

Day Hospitals Australia recognises and thanks all members for their continued support as we look forward working towards achieving all of the objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan.
