Important Update: IVI Reclassification Postponed to July 2026

Day Hospitals Australia is pleased to announce positive news for macular disease patients and the healthcare professionals who care for them.

Correspondence received from the Department of Health advises that the change in classification for IVIs from a Type B procedure to a Type C procedure will be deferred for a further 12 months until 1 July 2026.

This outcome would not have been possible without the collective effort of patients, ophthalmologists and members of Day Hospitals Australia, who all took the time to advocate for accessible eye care.

We will continue to advocate for the best possible outcomes for patients and the sector. This is a significant win for day hospital patients.
