The ACSQHC is commencing development of the third edition of the NSQHS Standards. This process will be shaped by broad consultation with healthcare professionals, government bodies, consumers, and community representatives.
Day Hospitals Australia Board Director Bianca Woodley is representing the day hospital sector on the review committee.
The updated Standards will continue to provide a nationally consistent framework for delivering safe, high-quality care across all health services.
Initial consultations will explore:
- Priority areas for the third edition
- Emerging and ongoing safety and quality challenges
- Lessons from the second edition
- Opportunities to enhance structure, engagement, and implementation
- Resource needs to support adoption
Feedback will be gathered through online surveys, focus groups, and written submissions. The draft Standards will be released for consultation in 2026, with finalisation expected in 2028.
